Hippotherapy

Achieving Functional Outcomes

The word Hippotherapy means “treatment with the help of the horse”. During these sessions, students work with one of our physical therapists while using the natural movement of the horse to achieve physical goals.. Horses are similar to humans in that each one has its own unique personality and movement. Selecting horses based on movement to accommodate the riders physical needs can provide a lasting impact. This treatment approach does not teach specific skills but rather provides a foundation of improved motor functioning and sensory processing that translates to daily activities.
